About Us/History

Boys Hope For Life was inspired by a trip to Kigali, Rwanda in 2008. While completing an internship, Hilliary and Megan met a group of local street children who they soon began forming a relationships with. Upon meeting Chantal Umutesi, a vision began forming amongst this group as their common passion for vulnerable children was realized.

Hope For Life is a children’s home that exists to help transform the lives of street boys by equipping them with the resources necessary to leave street life. We are focused on holistic and long-term care that will allow for emotional, relational and spiritual healing to take place in each child or youth.

Each child in the program has their primary needs met, receives loving support, Christian mentorship, and is being equipped to leave street life through the opportunity to attend school and vocational training. Additionally, this program has created seven new jobs, directly impacting these individuals and their families as well.

Hope For Life Ministry believes that God is already at work in the country of Rwanda. Thus, we have entered partnerships with community members whom God has already been working through. Hope For Life partners with The Hovde Foundation and Breakthrough Partners in caring for street children.

The Hovde Foundation is a recognized American NGO that awards grants to organizations that are passionately engaged in assisting people in crisis, particularly children and women in impoverished areas around the world. Their primary focus is to fund and oversee the construction and operation of transitional group homes (called “Hovde Houses”) for vulnerable children. The Foundation partners with reputable local organizations that operate the Houses, and assists them with project design, implementation and execution. Breakthrough Partners is a recognized American NGO focused on community development, catalyzing partnerships, and indigenous leadership development throughout the world.
